About Evan

I’m Evan Jones.  I’ve been an attorney for over 25 years, mostly practicing in criminal appeals. I was an appellate public defender in Minnesota, an appellate prosecutor in the Colorado Attorney General’s office, and practiced trial level appellate work as both an Assistant Attorney General and Deputy Denver District Attorney in Colorado.  In addition, I was a staff attorney at the Colorado Court of Appeals for about a year.  I taught appellate advocacy, both as a public defender and a prosecutor.  I have also served on and headed up training committees, finding creative ways to teach new tricks to old dogs and young.

I started working as a freelancer so I could more easily spend time with long-distance family, and in the mountains, without navigating a traditional work schedule. Or a traditional commute, for that matter.

I received my BA in Sociology, with a certificate in Criminal Justice, from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1986, and my JD from the University of Minnesota in 1990.

When I’m not helping you meet filing deadlines or win appeals, I can be found at Red Rocks, in the mountains, supporting various sports teams near and far, or enjoying time with friends and family.  The photo above was snapped at the top of Montezuma Bowl at Arapahoe Basin.
